The Cabbage in Paris
Not quite, but this is as close as you'll get this side of the channel.
Ladurée at Harrod's. But more importantly: the coolest photo slideshow function ever.

The Crumb speaks: Upcoming attractions
Am very much wanting to take the bus to Paris. £45 return, 8 hours. Leave London at midnight, reach Paris at dawn. And only for the Saturday flea markets flea markets flea markets. Back on the bus at 11, hit London by 6am the day after. I think there's also a morbid curiosity of how far my halting french can take me (all 60 hours of it learnt last summer) involved. The question is, in the next 2 weekends, or in October? :)
Marché aux Puces, Porte de Cligancourt.
Also, stay tuned for September post called The Crumb Takes On Tokyo. 5 days, 4 nights. harajuku, retail concepts from mars, sashimi, amongst the many wonderful things that Japan is. I'll fill this in with photos later, and my list of places to visit.

The Cabbage visits the Crumb
I am incredibly excited. In less than 24 hours I'll be off to merry old London to visit the Crumb.
I've created a London List that's about a mile long! Some items on my itinerary include: Portobello Market, the Tate Modern, the Hummingbird Bakery, the British Museum, Borough Market, Ladurée at Harrod's, The National Gallery, dinner along the Thames, Spitafields + Bricklane, 4seasons duck rice, and Covent Garden for Ben's Cookies!
Wish me luck with packing. The weight limit is so pathetically small I won't be doing much shopping while I'm there.

The Cabbage goes thrifting
Saw an interesting article in The New York Times a little while back, and if any of you are headed towards NYC I'd most definitely make this a must-see place.
The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Thrift Shop is among the many (non touristy) things I have yet to see in NYC...
Vintage Lagerfield, YSL and Thierry Mugler pieces hang resplendent on the racks, brand new Carolina Herrera cashmere and pleated print silk skirts go for US$175 (she donates pieces to the Center to help raise funds for their cause), vintage costume jewelery that's wonderfully preserved, softly gleaming pearls and oversized rings lie in 40s styled cosmetic boxes, and Chanel Chanel Chanel!
There are racks full of emerald shantung and satin lapels, linen and rayon, polka dot trims and cashmere, claret and coffee silk chiffon. All the luxuriant colours and textures and the hint of lavender make this place a real keeper.
It's a small and clean but unremarkable space, the intimate dimensions of whoch encourage customers to talk to one another. The service is excellent and chatty with wonderfully refined taste, it's a volunteer cast of Upper East Side grande dames who are helpful, friendly, and endlessly entertaining.
And the best part? You'll be helping others with every purchase you make. So go crazy! It's for a good cause. None of that post-retail-therapy-guilt.
